The motorcycle industry in Spain has welcomed a major new player with the arrival of Bajaj Auto, one of India’s most prominent motorcycle manufacturers and exporters. The brand has chosen Barcelona as the strategic launch point for its European operations, according to reports from Europa Press.
A Global Manufacturer with Expanding Reach
Founded in 1945, Bajaj Auto has become one of the world’s largest motorcycle producers. With four manufacturing plants across India and a newly opened facility in Brazil, the company continues to strengthen its global presence. Its production capacity is further amplified by long-standing partnerships with brands such as KTM, Husqvarna, and Triumph, having sold over 21 million units worldwide, as noted in media reports.
Spain as the Gateway to Europe
Spain plays a key role in the company’s international growth strategy. As part of its rollout, Bajaj has formed a distribution agreement with an established automotive group. The plan includes opening 35 dealerships in Spain and between 10 to 15 in Portugal within the first quarter of 2025, according to MotoWorld.es.
Barcelona Hosts First European Showroom
The first official European dealership is located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, at 64 Carrer d’Aribau. Covering over 250 square meters, the showroom is designed to deliver a complete customer experience. According to EnMoto.es, the space features dedicated delivery areas, a community zone, a workspace, a product display area, and an accessories section.
Models Launching in Spain
The initial models introduced to the Spanish market include the Dominar 400, a sport-touring motorcycle ideal for A2 license holders, and the Pulsar NS 125, designed for younger riders or drivers with a category B license. Both models aim to attract consumers with their dynamic design and strong value for money.
Looking ahead, the company plans to launch the Pulsar NS400Z in spring. As reported by FormulaMoto.es, this model will be equipped with advanced features such as ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, riding modes, and an inverted front fork—positioning it as a top contender in its category.
Innovation and Sustainable Mobility
Bajaj’s European roadmap also includes the upcoming release of the Chetak, a fully electric scooter. This move underscores the brand’s broader commitment to environmentally sustainable mobility solutions. According to Europa Press, this aligns with the company’s goal to establish a strong presence in the growing electric vehicle segment.
A Strategic Move with Long-Term Vision
With a clear expansion strategy, the support of an experienced distribution network, and a product portfolio that balances affordability, technology, and sustainability, Bajaj is poised to become a key player in Europe’s motorcycle market. Barcelona, known for its mobility culture and openness to innovation, provides a fitting backdrop for this new chapter in the brand’s global journey.
